The transition within ECF during 2019 continues as Adam Bodor, Advocacy and EuroVelo Director, is leaving after having served the organisation since 2011. Adam was initially a Board Member between 2004-2010 before joining the ECF's Brussels team in 2011.
Adam has made a huge contribution to ECF and the cycling world. Since he started working for ECF he has reorganised the management of EuroVelo; achieved ECF’s first recognition by the European institutions; built up the ECF's EuroVelo team; set the standards for network development; and coordinated the creation of the EuroVelo web portal and other communication tools.
Since 2016 he has also coordinated the advocacy work of ECF as well and the preparation of the EU Cycling Strategy. Under his leadership the ECF Advocacy team grew; the EU funds allocated for cycling rose from 0.6 to 2 billion Euros, and ECF successfully lobbied to change European legislation in order to create safer cycling infrastructure (RISM) and motorised vehicles (GSR) and allow bicycle carriage on trains.
Adam Bodor commented on his leave:
I am glad I could join the great ECF team in Brussels, become part of several advocacy successes and to take the EuroVelo network to a higher level. I believe all this will improve the sustainability of mobility and tourism in Europe. It is time for a change after working almost 15 years with ECF (in different positions) and I am looking forward to new opportunities in these sectors.
