Entering the second three-year period of implementation (2021-2023), the Cycle-Friendly Employer (CFE) Consortium has expanded its representation across Europe, welcoming four new members in 2018, one new member in 2019 and two more in 2020. The certification is currently being implemented in sixteen countries across Europe, with a total of over 250 employers already certified as Cycle-Friendly.
The call is open to ECF Members, cycling organisations, local administrations and private entities in the following countries, which do not yet have a CFE representative: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, France, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and Russia.
The CFE Certification Framework establishes a European standard for bicycle-friendliness in the European workplace. The certification aims to help European companies improve conditions for employees that cycle to work and reward and offer recognition for their effort.
Supporting employees in cycling to work is a worthwhile investment that contributes to the success of a business or organisation, makes for healthier and more productive employees and reduces the impact of commuting on the environment.
The annual call for applications is an open competition to select one organisation in each of the non-represented countries. Successful candidates will:
