The conference takes place in the Vienna City Hall from Tuesday, October 20 and Friday, October 23. The Velo-city 2013 Vienna was a tremendous success as global cycling summit. Now, over two years later, Vienna will host the Walk21 conference which will make a further strong contribution to Active Mobility. There is great continuity from Velo-city because the City of Vienna has once again brought together Vice-Mayor Maria Vassilakou, conference director Wolfgang Dvorak and program director Andrea Weninger – all of them well experienced from Velo-city. And from the Walk21 team Jim Walker and Bronwen Thornton are close collaborators with ECF at many levels.

The program features a rich content to facilitate professional expertise and debate as well as informal opportunities for networking with the wider approach of Active Mobility as a political issue of increasing importance. ECF president Manfred Neun will be putting cycling and walking together under the thought provoking key-note topic: “Why walking is my favourite” and in the “Leadership Panel” discussion on Friday, 23 October, he will be in discussion with Maria Vassilakou, Andreja Kodrin (EU), Simon Ng (Hongkong Civic Exchange), Cornie Huizenga (SloCat), and Jim Walker (W21).
