Eurostar has reversed its decision to force cyclists to dismantle their bikes. After a collaborative campaign run by several ECF members, Eurostar announced last Friday that it was cancelling its proposed new bike carriage policy and would instead continue to accept fully mounted bicycles in its registered luggage service. The campaign was initiated and led by our UK member CTC but also involved French, Belgian, German and Dutch organisations thanks to the support of the ECF. As a result over 9,700 people personally contacted Eurostar to state their opposition to the new policy, including the Mayors of Paris and London and the Brussels transport minister. CTC Chief Executive Paul Tuohy said: "It's fantastic news that the views of so many of our members and other cyclists across Europe have been listened to. This proves how a successful, well-run campaign can be a massive force for good and make things happen" In addition of the satisfaction linked to the withdrawal of the new bicycle carriage policy, ECF is very happy with the collaboration between the different member groups. "Congratulations to CTC and the supporting organisations.  This is good news for all cyclists and cycle tourists in Europe" said ECF Secretary General Dr Bernhard Ensink.
