The International Motor Show (IAA) is the world's most largest show of the automotive industry. Nicolas Urien, Project Director of the 'Cycling for Growth Initiative', was present to promote cycling and e-cycling as a key element of this new mobility environment, especially considering its potential in terms of growth and jobs creation in Europe. Our new CIC member, Energy Bus, was presenting LEV Components Special Exhibition at the new exhibition section and has kindly helped to organize the Cycling for Growth Initiative's presence at the IAA. "We welcome such initiatives to think about the transport of tomorrow. It is clear that it will be sustainable and connected. And let me assure you that cycling will reveal new intermodal possibilities for a sustainable and efficient transport system. ECF's presence here is a proof that things have changed in the right direction: this would have been unthinkable a few years ago. We look forward to repeat such experience next year in Paris!" For the first time, IAA opened a new exhibition section called “New Mobility World” to present the most important developments and innovations in the ever-changing world of mobility. The new exhibition concept has been built around five themes: Connected Car, Automated Driving, E-Mobility, Urban Mobility and Mobility Services. This New Mobility World reveals a positive shift toward new perspectives on intermodal transport. Furthermore the transport ministers of the G7 countries met for the first time during the Frankfurt Motor Show. Representatives from the U.S., the European Union, Japan, the UK, Italy Germany and several high-level automotive executives appeared on stage to give insights and discuss about new mobility perspectives. According to Violeta Bulc, Commissioner for Transport of the European Commission, “New technologies are not just bringing new advancements, but they are affecting business modeling, they’re effecting social modeling. The European Union is an aging society,” she added, “so automated driving and all these new and exciting solutions are bringing great opportunities for elderly people to be fully engaged in social life. It’s also a great solution for disabled people, people with special needs. Through automation we are also addressing de-carbonization with a special emphasis on electrification. We see there’s a paradigm shift.” She also underlined that all dimensions must be taken into consideration, including cycling.
