Economic benefits of cycling in Europe are more than €200 billion per year. Cycling industry’s stakeholders believe that the time is right to extend the influence of the industry at the EU level and put the cycling industry strongly into the European policy agenda 2015 - 2017.

The Cycling Industry Club (CIC) and CONEBI (Confederation for the European Bicycle Industry) have presented and officially launched the Cycling for Growth Initiative during the 2015 Advocacy Summit at Eurobike. This project is the fruit of a sound and joint reflection to extend and strengthen the influence of the cycling industry as a recognised and respected voice at the EU level. The Cycling for Growth initiative will complement the work of CIC and CONEBI by bringing the companies’ experience and resources to the European level in order (1) to show how the cycling industry will deliver growth within the European Union and (2) create the conditions to unlock billions further in European public expenditure on cycling and e-cycling. The initiative will be steered by a joint steering group from CONEBI and ECF. New Project Director Nicolas Urien has been appointed to lead the Cycling for Growth initiative on behalf of CONEBI and ECF.
