| Denmark is ideal for bicycle holidays, because of the manageable hills and distances and, because, in many places, cyclists have their own marked bicycle routes. There are 10 national bicycle routes which criss-cross the country. They are all marked with route numbers (1-10). In addition, most counties have a network of regional bicycle routes. Both national and regional bicycle routes are outlined in special bicycle maps, available from the Danish Cyclist Federation, most tourist agencies and book stores. There are bicycle maps available for all regions - 14 maps covering the entire country. "Cykelferiekortet" or "The Bicycle holiday planning map" covers all of Denmark and gives an indication of all marked bicycle routes (national as well as regional), camp sites, hostels, sights stc.
