| The Kogl Cycle Path leads into the Rohrbach Kogl Nature Reserve, the Neusiedler Lake Cycle Path leads around Europe´s only shallow-steppe lake. The somewhat salty lake is never deeper than two metres and is fringed by a reed belt of up to four kilometres wide. The entire region is a true birds' paradise with plenty of species under protection. Herons and countless other wading birds have their breeding places here. Between Podersdorf and Illmitz the cycling path is leading through the "Lange Lacke" bird preserve (Lange Lacke cycling trail "B20", 48 km) and the Neusiedler See-Seewinkel nature preserve. Cycling to Hungary you cross the border in Pamhagen (open all year) or Mörbisch (April – October). |
