Hungary has just opened some new cyle roads for the bikers. The two most frequented touristic areas of the country: the Balaton Lake and the Danube Bend are to discover for cyclist travellers by now. The track along the Southern Shore of the Balaton Lake is finished this year and there is a new, 40 km long cyle route on the Left Bank of the Danube, up to the North, from Budapest to the picturesque Danube Bend.
The new Hungarian cyclists´ umbrella organisation, MK (HUNCYC), founded in January 2002, is growing. The club coordinates and represents the city cyclists, the tour cyclists and the mountain-bikers of the country. Its oldest and new member is the 80 years old Hungarian sculptor Dezsö Mészáros, who is still running his racing bike between the villages in the Visegrád area. |
