This adventure, exercise, and culture-filled week will begin in Caldes de Montbui. We’ll begin our trip in the morning toward our destination of the “Aigües Tortes i Sant Maurici” National Park. Each day, we will ride between 40 and 80 km, depending on the difficulty of that day's itinerary. We’ll go through the Vallès Oriental, Bages, and Solsonès areas, which stand out for their geographic and land diversity: fields of crops, forest areas, and mountain views. We’ll stop to visit villages and their various historic attractions: the monastery of Santa Maria de L'Estany, Cardona and its medieval fortress, and more. We will try local cuisine in typical restaurants of the area. Words like: "pà amb tomàquet", "truita de patates", "escudella", "carn d'olla" or "paella" will become commonplace in our new vocabulary. Finally, after a week, we'll make it to the “Aigües Tortes i Sant Maurici” National Park. This National Park is not only one of the most beautiful examples of the richness offered by the Pyrenees high mountain area, but it also has a rich architectural patrimony, since it is home to the Romanic grouping of the Vall de Boí, which has been declared Patrimony of Humanity. While some relax after a full week of cycling and tourism, lovers of open-air sports can go hiking and engage in other adventure sports. |
