Once, the noble Messrs Gans of Putlitz were the ones who had the say in Prignitz/ Brandenburg. Today, the Goose Tour follows the traces of this noble family. The white goose on a red background shows cyclists the way for 80 kilometres – always along the Stepenitz stream. It passes by rural castles, manor houses and through charming countryside – there are also picnic areas of original design. This route is the ideal link of two major long-distance cycle paths: From the Elbe Cycle Route it leads from Wittenberge to Meyenburg on the Mecklenburg Lakes Cycle Route. A major plus – Wittenberge is easily reached by rail including accompanying bicycle. Wolfshagen Castle with attached museum is particularly worth seeing. The exhibition ´Landed Gentry and Porcelain´ vividly presents the style of home furnishing of the time. Testing of seats is explicitly desired. A comfortable inn and a rural hotel lure one into staying. |
