26.05.2008ECF Press release: New EuroVelo cycle route map makes boundless cycling pleasure possible in Europe

Brussels, 26 May 2008

Experience Europe by bicycle! Whether from the deserted areas in the high north of the continent up to the antique culture places in the Mediterranean region, from the French Atlantic coast along the river route up to the Danube delta in the Black Sea, around the North Sea or Baltic Sea: 12 cycle routes under the label EuroVelo were edited for the first time in a new cycle route map.

This map gives reliable information to the user regarding 66,000 km of cycle routes across the European continent. Where still no cycle tracks are put in place is documented as well as start and end of the routes, exact route guidance and the kind of the signposting. On the back there is a description to each of the 12 routes in German and English, colour photos as well as internet addresses leading to relevant cycling portals in the respective countries. Information on cycle carriage on trains can also be found.

The EuroVelo cycle route network is a project of the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF). ECF has published this map together with the Galli publishing house. Sponsor is the bicycle manufacturer ACCELL with its brands Batavus, Sparta, Koga, Winora and Hercules.
