 | | | | Vineyards and wineries: The topic wine is omnipresent in the wine heartland charming Tauber valley in northern Baden-Württemberg. And the white varieties of grapes Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Riesling and Bacchus, the reds Schwarzriesling Spätburgunder and Dornfelder as well as the speciality Tauberschwarz from the wine growing areas Württemberg, Franconia and Baden have a worldwide reputation. The new „Wein-Radreise“ [Wine Cycle Tour] for the first time connects the three landscapes Hohenlohe, Tauber valley and Main valley over 223 kilometres. Wine festivals and wine tastings tempt the cyclists here, and they do this in seven one-day stages with more or less steep gradients from Dörzbach (in Hohenlohe) via Niederstetten, Rothenburg o. d. Tauber, Weikersheim, Beckstein, Wertheim and Kreuzwertheim to Miltenberg on the Main. The Wine Cycle Tour is consistently signposted with its own logo, intermittently, however, also with that of the Cycle Route „Liebliches Taubertal – Der Klassiker“ [Charming Tauber valley - The Classic] and „Liebliches Taubertal – Der Sportive“ [Charming Tauber valley - The Sporty] and finally with that of the Main Cycle Route. Tip: Here one can also obtain the culinary calendar with Tauber valley specialities like spelt, Hohenlohe Landschwein [pork] and beef, or brown trout from the Tauber – naturally with wine recommendations.
