| The new cycle route planner provides on separate maps twelve tour suggestions for the Saarland which can be comfortably combined with one another. In a practical format for the handlebar bag a map in 1:75.000 scale shows the course of the respective route as well as its length and starting point. On the reverse are found the route description with directions, difficulties en route as well as the highlights of the tour. The Saar-Bliesgau circuit, for instance, starts and ends at the lock at Saarbrücken-Güdingen and leads over 72 kilometres along the river valleys of Saar and Blies and across the heights of the Bliesgau – with fine views right up to the Vosges. Except for a single approximately one hundred metre long climb the almost continuously asphalted route is free of hills. Amongst its sights belong the place of pilgrimage Gräfinthal, the old town of Blieskastel, or the Roman road on the Bliesgau heights. Overnight accommodation in bicycle-friendly Bed & Bike enterprises and tips on where to stop off at and on sights along the route complete the information about the routes. From spring on the twelve routes can be called up and downloaded as GPS-tracks at www.tourismus.saarland.de.
