A totally new way of exploring St Petersburg is available from May 2007 – regular city bicycle tours, offered by Petersburg BikeTour.

BikeTour is a joint project by SkatProkat and Peter’s Walking Tours. Skat Prokat is a popular bicycle shop and rental service. Peter’s Walking Tours is a long-established innovative walking tour company, founded and run by Peter Kozyrev.

From May to October, visitors to St Petersburg and the locals will have a chance of seeing the city from a different perspective – by mounting a bicycle and setting off on an exciting journey. The new way of sightseeing provides new possibilities – fast and comfortable way of getting around, learning more about the city and having an active exercise in the fresh air. Besides, it draws St Petersburg another step closer to the popular tourist destinations of Europe, where such excursions have existed for a long time.

City centre without traffic jams becomes possible on a bike. Our professional guides will be conducting the tour in English and Russian, showing the participants both major landmarks and hidden little corners unknown to most locals.

BikeTour will be offering various kinds of city rides and out of town trips, such as White Night rides, corporate and individual programmes, exotic and downright unique routes. The latter includes a tour of Kupchino, the “Bronx” of St. Petersburg. Tours for parents with small children are available – bikes can be equipped with baby-seats.

Beginning May 6, 2007, the regular Sunday Morning Bike Tour is offered every Sunday (except May 27) on a ‘turn-up’ basis. This 3.5 hour ride is a mosaic of various landmarks and nooks and crannies which St Petersburg consists of. From Palace Square to grand panoramic vistas along the Neva embankments to charming old residential areas – this tour shows real-life St Petersburg at its best.

The bicycle tours suit every one who can ride, regardless of age or the level of riding. All participants are briefed up on safety before the start.
