In Saarland a bike bus complements the timetable between Merzig via Wadern to St. Wendel and takes away cyclists’ dread of ascents: The transport association VGS Verkehrsverbundgesellschaft Saar mbH and the RSW GmbH deploy the bike bus until October on weekends and in the summer months also during the week. In addition to a timetable an information brochure contains - supplementary to the existing Saarland cycle route network - eleven tours of varying length and demands together with some recreational offers. The tours begin and end at bus stops or railway stations. Thanks to the routing of the busses all of the eleven tours can be combined with one another, furthermore the bike bus crosses for instance the Saarland Cycle Route and the Saar-Lake Bostal Cycle Path and provides a link to the Nahe Cycle Route.
