The Declaration of Berne was made by the member organizations of the ECF (European Cyclists’ Federation) to highlight the contribution cycling can make to preventing climate change and to Europe’s transport policies.
The declaration states "We call on all politicians and officials now to recognise the important contribution that cycling can, and must, make in tackling climate change. Please work with us to realise that potential and to guarantee a better quality of life now and in the future."
At the Berne AGM of ECF 51 representatives of member organisations gathered to discuss a range of issues culminating with a unanimous declaration setting out the position of cycling in the climate change debate. The adopted declaration is signed by all the 28 organisations that were represented at the meeting.
Today ECF President Manfred Neun sent the ECF Declaration of Berne to the Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of transport Jacques Barrot.
