ECF Office in Brussels hosted the Bicycity Press Conference

Brussel, April 19th 2007.
The ECF Office hosted the press conference  of the big cyclists event in Brussels: Bicycity.
20 participants, journalists and cyclist activists joined the press conference in the ECF office, where the President of GRACQ, Mr Bernard Dehaye, the President of Fietsersbond Mr Koen van Wonterghem and the Referent of the Ministry of the Brussels Region Mr Alain Vandenplas launched the cyclist event by their presentations. The speakers mentioned already the other big event approaching Brussels, the Velo-city Conference 2009.

Bicycity:
On the 6th of May, thousands of people will cycle peacefully and cheerfully through Brussels and into the city centre to demand more space for bikes.  Groups of cyclists from all corners of Belgium and from Brussels too, will meet up and gather cyclists along the way.
BicyCity will mark start of the annual Dring-Dring Cycling Week in Brussels as well as the Soft-Road-Users Week in Flanders. Thousands of cyclists will be bringing air into the capital city on the 6th of May. Ride along with us on BicyCity Sunday and make your public statement about mobility and transport.

After the press conference the participants together with the local cyclist groups joined a bicycle tour starting in the EU district by the Schumann round-a-bout escorted by the police in the heavy rush hour traffic of the city. Bicycle policy was made directly in front of the EU Commission buildings on the Berlaymont hill.
