The Route verte is an approximately 4000 kilometre cycling itinerary through Quebec's regions that has taken more than 12 years to set up with the help of close to a thousand different organizations and companies. North America's largest cycling network's official and international inauguration will take place during the months of June, July and August 2007.
A great gathering in Quebec City!
On August 10th, 2007, the Route verte's official inauguration will take place across the province of Quebec. A special opening event will be held in the capital, Quebec City, with the arrival of the Grand Tour's 2000 participants. The inauguration will be held on a scale that reflects the project's magnitude, simultaneously in 16 regions of Quebec. In each region, the August 10th inauguration ceremony will showcase different activities (cycling expeditions, local festivities, tributes to the Route verte's local planners, etc.) reflecting a project that has aimed at getting Quebec's regions to adopt the same rhythm: these events will be active, festive, media oriented and popular. |
Regional festivities
The different initiatives to celebrate the Route verte's official inauguration will be broadcasted in the itinerary's various promotional tools in 2007. They will start appearing in January on www.routeverte.com and will be supported by various communications activities held by Vélo Québec Association during the whole year. Tours intended for cycling professionals and cycling organizations
During different periods of the summer of 2007, Vélo Québec will organize tours intended for cycling organizations and various professionals (in planning, etc.) who wish to discover the Route verte and its technical aspects. These one-week tours will allow local and regional contributors to showcase the different aspects of setting up long distance cycling itineraries. Quebec nature... by the Route verte
The Route verte is an ideal link between Quebec's towns and villages, a unique way to appreciate the scenery and commune with nature. Flying fauna, small and large mammals, the encounters are frequent and surprising. In 2007, the Route verte will be beautiful, and nature too!
