On the IFMA Fair Cologne 14-17 September 2006, on the common ECF-ADFC (German Cycling Federation) booth a brand new  cyclists´ rest- and service area was presented for the the cycle tourism´s experts, developed  by the German cyclists´ organisation,  together with ORION Bausysteme. The rest area, mentioned for  the frequented cycle routes of Europe has found  strong resonance among the experts, city planners and the public days´ visitors.

Comfortable for cyclists, attractive to tourists; spacious 3 x 3 m protective shelters with pyramid roofing and glazed windbreak-panelling afford relaxing cyclists a view under any weather condition.

Every ECF-ADFC rest area is equipped with bicycle stands and info-boards. Depending on location, the area may also be equipped with baggage lockers and surrounded by latticework. A standard ECF-ADFC signpost makes the rest area visible from afar and serves as a positive recognition factor. The colour scheme and design of the ECF-ADFC rest area can be adapted to local tourist regions for an individual accent to routes in their respective networks.

Advertisements calling attention to regional gastronomy and sightseeing attractions can help to offset the cost of the rest area. Volume discount pricing for orders of multiple rest areas is also a cost-saving factor.

Furnishings for the ECF-ADFC rest area concept were developed in a joint effort between the ADFC-Bundesverband and the company ORION-Bausysteme GmbH, D-64584 Biebesheim/Rhein.
