| Hesse has developed into a good address for cyclists. With the new booklet "RadParadiese Hessen" the saddle-fast can convince themselves of this. The 44 page booklet presents the Hessian long-distance cycle route network and a whole range of regional cycle routes, which supply, as it were, for cycle tourists, families with children and sportingly ambitious bikers each with a fitting offer. Particularly for cycle tours lasting several days a high-quality network of long-distance cycle routes was created in Hesse over the last few years. The basic framework of the nine stretches, uniformly signposted with "R", measures 2,200 kilometres. The booklet also follows this division. The longest route - from Waldecker Land into the south Hessian marsh (Ried) - measures 406 kilometres, the shortest – through the Odenwald forest - 84 kilometres. Almost each long-distance cycle route also has demanding track sections, requiring good condition. The offer of the long-distance cycle routes is complemented by attractive regional cycle routes. Many of the regional routes presented here are especially suitable for families and those who cycle for pleasure. They include of course the Lahn Valley and the Werra Valley Cycle Route, which as river cycle routes have only few ascents, but also the cycle routes that follow closed down railway lines.
