| A leaflet has been published not only on the hiking trail but also on the Rennsteig Cycle Route in five legs. In addition to both maps a brochure “Gastgeber am Rennsteig” (Hosts on the Rennsteig) has been printed. Here interested hikers and cyclists find accommodation and travel offers for the Rennsteig. This route leads past the highest peaks of the Thuringian Forest, such as Inselsberg, Großer Beerberg, Schneekopf or Großer Finsterberg. Towns like Eisenach with the Wartburg Castle, Schmalkalden, Meiningen, Oberhof, Masserberg, Suhl, Lauscha, Neuhaus am Rennweg or Sonneberg are situated on or near the Rennsteig. Special centres of attraction are the Rennsteig Garden, the Rennsteig Thermal Bath in Oberhof and the wild and romantic Schwarzatal with its Schwarzburg Castle. For 2006 131 accommodations have gained the coveted title "hiker-friendly accommodation". |
