Organized and promoted by UNESCO's Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe (BRESCE), this multi-faceted media-tracked event will include a series of scientific, cultural, sporting, and nature conservation related happenings. It intends to emphasize the idea of sustainable development as a result of interactions between local initiatives and their global networking. Participants from various backgrounds will cross the Western Balkans by bus, from 24th June to 15th July 2006, having biking activities at ten different sites of natural and cultural international importance where the "BtheB" caravan will stop. At these locations, participants will discover unique environmental situations, discuss with stakeholders crucial issues related to the sustainability of local territorial dynamics and demonstrate concrete solidarity and openness to cultural diversity and local traditions and practices! Most of the chosen sites are on the UNESCO World Heritage list and Man and Biosphere (MAB) Reserves networks, and also connected to initiatives promoted by UNESCO's major partners in this project (UNDP, Council of Europe, IUCN and WWF).
Participation in BthB is open to everybody. Don't miss this great chance to get involved in this enchanting experience.
