Mecklenburg-West Pomerania has so many bicycle enthusiasts that the German Cycling Federation (ADFC) for the past five years has repeatedly confirmed it as Germany's most popular cycling region. Just how popular cycling is with the tourists is revealed by the figures: In 2003 almost three million guests used the two-wheeler on at least one occasion as an environmentally friendly means of transport, that is almost three times as many tourists as in 1994. Seven long-distance cycle paths and innumerable other routes many thousands of kilometres in length traverse the land. After presenting, in addition to the long-distance routes, also a comprehensive offer of day trips and short tours in their own brochures the tourism association now completes its offer for active cycling holidaymakers with the booklet “Circular Bike Tours - 21 wonderful journeys for your short vacation”. In an edition of 100,000 copies the brochure presents on 66 pages the circular cycle routes with corresponding maps, brief descriptions, notes on sights along the way, many beautiful photos and remarks on overnight accommodation. |
